　　Directions：For this part, you are allowed 30 minutesto write an essay commenting on the saying “In today’s world, where college population grows rapidly, a Master’sdegree become essential if I wish to compete for a rewarding job.” You can give oneexample or two to illustrate your point of view. 　　There are many reasons for my decision to read for postgraduate programs. I decided to stay on the academic assembly line owing to the value of the second degree. It ensures me a secure future in a society in which college graduates in mounting numbers failed to be employed.First, there is a recognition that an candidate with a master’s degree will have an competitive advantage over those with only a bachelor’s degree. Five years ago when collegepopulation accounted for only 30 percent of the people of the same age, it was easy for a college graduate to get a good job in any field.But now things are quite different. Second, the higher education you have, the higher salary you willreceive. Just look at some big companies which compete each other to recruit skilledpersonnel.Briefly speaking, more knowledge means moreopportunities. More years ofacademic studies will help equip you with more knowledge and skills.Then if conditions change, you can slip with comparative ease from one fieldinto another, avoiding the pain of waking up to find yourself out of a job.

　　有好多理由使我决定攻读研究生学位。我决定继续留在大学里还因为研究生学位的价值。当越来越多的大学生找不到工作时，研究生学位却能保证我有稳定的将来。

　　首先，普遍公认拥有硕士学位的求职者比只有学士学位的求职者有着竞争优势。五年前当大学生只占同龄人口的百分之三十的时候，大学毕业生比较容易在各领域找到一份好工作。但现在情况不同了，数据达到了百分之六十五甚至更多的时候。因此很多公司比以往任何时候都设定了更高的标准。其次，有接受的教育程度越高，你就能获得更高的薪水。看看那些互相竞争来招募技能人才的大公司就知道了。

　　总之，更多知识意味着更多机会。更长时间的学术生涯将帮助你获得更多知识和技能。如果条件改变了，你就能相对轻松地从一个领域转换到另一个领域，避免一觉醒来发现自己已经失业的痛苦。
