　　户外广告是现代城市景观中不可或缺的部分，反映着城市的繁荣程度，文化特色和品位。企业热切地希望通过户外广告不断提升形象，传播商业信息。各级政府也希望通过它树立城市形象，美化(beautify)城市。户外广告将会有广阔的市场，同时也对其提出了更高的要求。随着现代科学技术的迅猛发展，户外广告开始采用新材料、新技术、新设备。户外LED媒体是一种能够显示文字、图像、二维或三维(three-dimensional)动画等内容的显示媒体，它的产生开创了户外媒体的新时代。
