the pros and cons of owning a private car
today , more and mor e urban people have private cars . no dou bt , owning a car has many advantages .
fir st , you can move a round fr eely without wor rying about the bu s and tr ain schedule . of course, you don’t have to queue up and strive for seats , either .
secondly , t raveling in your own car , you will feel very cosy , especially in bad weather . in winter , you just stay warm; in hot summer , the air- conditione r sends out cool breeze; in rainy days , you remain dry .
thirdly , you feel safer if you drive at night because you can star t and stop as you like . i t is all in your cont rol . howeve r , not all urban citizen s would buy cars , not even the rich .
their fir st con sider ation is that they cannot stand the ever- rising price of the fuel , yet no ca r can move without fuel . the next thing is the money s pent on regula r maintenance and repair which seems incalculable . a simple r epair usually costs 50 — 100 yuan .
another problem is the pa rking difficulty . most apa rt - ment houses do not provide ga rages , what is mor e vexing , ther e a re usually not enough parking lots in urban ar eas , and parking in a wrong place will be fined .
lastly , they wor ry about the tr affic jam, which is so common in almost all cities . it is oft en the case that car s are less quick than bikes . in addition , they a re af raid of their ca rs being stolen . skillful thieves are not a few and the police force are on the lacking . what if one day their car s s uddenly disappear?
as a result , many people ar e watching , waiting and balancing before finally making a decision .
