　　Some of these gifted people may have done poorly in school because their gifts were not scholastic. Maybe we can account for Picasso in this way.

　　其中一些天才可能在校的学习成绩并不好，那是因为他们的天赋不在学术上。也许我们可以以这个方式解释毕加索的经历。

　　六级词汇讲解：

　　本句中，because引导原因状语从句;Maybe we can account for Picasso in this way是一个简单句;in this way是方式状语。

　　poorly在本句中指“糟糕地;差强人意;不足”。如：

　　Our candidate fared poorly in the election.

　　我们的候选人在选举中得票不多。

　　scholastic意为“学习的;学术的”。如：

　　He is unfitted for scholastic life.

　　他不适应学术生活。

　　account for意为“解释，说明”。如：

　　He'll have to account for where every cent goes.
