　　even so和even though无论在读音上还是形式上都十分相近，但是二者的含义和用法完全不同：

　　even so是一个独立的结构，可以作插入语，意为“尽管如此”。如：

　　Even so,afraid the fellow might let me down,he worried for quite atime.

　　尽管如此，他还是一直不放心，怕同伴会让我失望。

　　even though是以even强调though的语气，只能作为表示转折的连词使用。如：

　　Even though some people objected，laws were passed.

　　尽管有人反对，但法规还是被通过了。

　　She recalls watching the ship, brightly lit, slipping into its dark grave-and into seeming nothingness, rarely mentioned for more than half a century.

　　nothingness是本句中极为抽象的词。该词是由nothing与后缀-ness连接在一起组成的。因为后缀-ness表示“状态，品质”的含义，故nothingness就是指“虚无的状态，什么都不是的性质”，而在翻译的过程中则应该结合语境翻译。
