　　【析句】复合句。主句The figures prompted Oceana to petition the government to upgrade the level of protection for the North Atlantic loggerheads from “threatened” to “endangered”, 具体分析如下：主谓宾是the figures、promted、Oceana，后面有两个不定式to petition...和to upgrade...,第一个不定式是短语prompt sb to do sth，第二个不定式是短语petition sb to do sth。破折号后，meaning...是现在分词作定语，meaning后是省略了that的宾语从句。

　　【析句】复合句。主句we must get a handle on those issues, or a creature will meet its end at the hands of humans，or这里是连词，连接两个并列句，意为“否则”。or引导的句子中，主语a creature有定语从句that outlived the dinosaurs修饰，主句后，leaving our descendants to wonder...是现在分词作伴随状语，wonder后是how引导的宾语从句。
