　　1. But the promise is so extravagant that it predestines many disappointments and sometimes inspires choices that have anti-social consequences, including family breakdown and obesity. (2007. 阅读. 6. Text 2)

　　【译文】但是，这个承诺夸大其词，以致于常常使人失望，而且它有时会刺激人做出选择，而这些选择会造成反社会后果，如家庭破裂和肥胖症。

　　【析句】复合句。主句But the promise is so...that...。主句中用到了so...that...结构，that引导结果状语从句it predetines many disappointments and inspires choices，这一结果状语从句中包含两个并列的谓语动词predestines和inspires。结果状语从句中还包含一个定语从句，即that have anti-social consequences...修饰choices。

　　【析句】复合句。主句由两部分组成，分别是there is considerable sentiment about the corruption of women's language和this sentiment is crystalized by nationwide opinion polls，前后两句由and连接。前句是是there be句型，两句之间，破折号之间的内容which is viewed as part of the loss of...作the corruption of women's language的定语从句，起强调作用。后句的主句后有that引导的定语从句修饰nationwide opinion polls.

　　3. One might well imagine little girls using exceedingly polite forms when playing house or imitating older women—in a fashion analogous to little girls’ use of a high-pitched voice to do “teacher talk” or “mother talk” in role play. (2007. 阅读. 6.Text 3)

　　【译文】可以充分想象一下，小女孩在玩过家家或模仿年长女性时，使用过分礼貌的敬语——类似于小女孩尖声尖气模仿老师或是妈妈说话的腔调。

　　【析句】复合句。主句One might well imagine little girls using exceddingly polite forms, 这里用到了短语imagine sb. doing sth。主句后是when引导的时间状语从句，when playing house or imatating older women, 因为时间状语从句的主句也是little girls，而且play、imatate的动作都是主动，所以省略了主句，使用现在分词。破折号后，in a fashion是方式状语，analogous to little girl's use of a high-pitched voice to do...是形容词作定语修饰a fashion,其中，第一个to作介词，与analogous连用;后一个to也是介词，表示目的。
